Dear Sponsors:
On April 5, 2012, I issued a Pastoral Letter titled “Go and Announce the Gospel of the Lord” that details a vision of evangelization for the Diocese of Lansing. Included in that vision was an announcement that I would be hosting three diocesan assemblies to provide support, practical resources and vision to all those who are engaged in the work of evangelization in our diocese.
Our 3rd assembly, MADE FOR HAPPINESS, will occur on Saturday, September 22nd at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The day will begin with a 4 mile long Eucharistic Procession from St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing and concluding at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The event will continue with what I hope will be a crowd of 15,000 church-going Catholics inside the Breslin Center, which will include inspirational speakers and a joyful culmination of the day where I will celebrate Mass with nearly all the clergy of the Diocese of Lansing.
MADE FOR HAPPINESS will be an historic event in our diocese and it is my hope that it will inspire attendees to more deeply embrace their true identities as daughters and sons of God and, as a result, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ more freely and joyfully with those around them. Please join me, all the clergy and thousands of others from around our diocese for this defining moment in our Church!
I ask that you give your prayerful support to all of us as we engage in this very important mission of making disciples and building the kingdom of God. I also ask that you consider supporting this momentous occasion in our diocese through one of our sponsorship programs detailed in the accompanying flyer.
